Tête therapy’s background story.
Tête Therapy was founded in Dumbo, Brooklyn in 2018. The goal was to create a therapeutic space where individuals could feel safe and supported while working on personal growth and recovery.
Our namesake
Let’s have a tête-à-tête.
After working in the mental health field for over a decade we created Tête Therapy in late 2018. Tête pronounced /tɛt/ is the French word for head. A “tête-à-tête” is a French term that literally translates to “head-to-head.” It is commonly used to describe a private or intimate conversation between two people.
We wanted to build a beautiful office where this could take place that felt welcoming, design forward, and was a safe place to process through a multitude of feelings and issues. With an ever changing landscape around us, we strive to be a steady place for anyone that walks through our doors and has the courage to take a deeper look at themselves alongside the minds of compassionate and skilled therapists.

Art Therapy
At Tête Therapy, we use art as a powerful therapeutic tool—inviting clients to explore emotions, process trauma, and foster self-understanding through mediums like drawing, painting, collage, and movement.

Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic Therapy is a deep, insight-oriented approach that helps clients uncover unconscious patterns rooted in early life experiences. We use this modality to explore how past relationships and internal conflicts shape us.
