Thinking of Signing Up for Therapy?

Taking the first step toward therapy can be multiple truths: daunting, exciting, healing, and anxiety-provoking. At Tête Therapy, we understand that seeking help is courageous but also involves a lot of red tape, and you might have questions about insurance, what to expect from your sessions, or how to find the right therapist. We aim to support you through this journey, making the process as seamless and welcoming as possible.

Below are answers to common questions:

Does tête therapy accept my insurance?

Our practice is an out-of-network provider. We are not in-network with any insurance plans. We take payment in full at the time of service for all sessions. Once you become a client, you have the option to connect with Float, a billing service that offers seamless submission and tracking of your claims. After each session, you will receive your invoice via email and can access it through your Float account. The invoice will clearly indicate your financial responsibility and the estimated portion covered by your insurance. As a client, you may choose to pay only your co-insurance, which helps to reduce the upfront cost. For more information, you can explore the details and benefits of using Float.

When seeking reimbursement, your insurance may ask for:

  • CPT Code: 90834
  • Therapist’s License
  • Therapist’s NPI Number (provided upon request)
  • Session Rates: $150 – $250
  • Session Length: 45 minutes

What should I ask my insurance company about out-of-network benefits?

Here are some key questions to help guide your conversation with your insurance provider:

  • Does my plan cover out-of-network mental health services?
  • What is my deductible, and how much of it has been met?
    • What is a deductible? A deductible is the amount you must pay out of pocket for healthcare services before your insurance coverage begins. Understanding your deductible and how much you’ve met is essential for budgeting your therapy expenses. Don’t hesitate to ask your insurance provider for clarification if needed!
  • Are there any limits on the number of mental health sessions covered?
  • How much will I be reimbursed per session with an out-of-network provider?
  • Do I need prior approval or a referral to receive reimbursement for out-of-network care?
What is the cost per session at tête therapy?

Each practitioner in our practice has slightly different pricing and the cost per session can vary depending on your needs and the expertise required to support you. In general, sessions range in cost from approximately $150 to $250 each. Our therapists do reserve a certain amount of their availability for clients who need to pay on a sliding scale. If you have questions or financial concerns, please contact us directly to discuss your needs.

Can I speak to a therapist before the first session?

Absolutely! We offer a free 15-minute consultation with one of our therapists to ensure a good fit for your needs. You can schedule this through our Client Care Coordinator by filling out a form on our website or calling us at 929-224-2284. We’ll get back to you within the next business day.

How do I get started as a new client?

To begin your journey, send us a message with your contact information and a brief description of what you’re looking for. Our Client Care Coordinator will respond within the next business day to answer any questions and guide you through the following steps.

How do I know if one of the therapists at tête is a good fit for me?

We take great care in pairing you with the therapist who best matches your needs. After your initial consultation with our Client Care Coordinator, you’ll be matched with a therapist based on their expertise and your unique situation. Before your first session, you’ll have a chance to speak with your therapist to ensure it feels like a good fit.

Can I request a certain therapist?

Of course! If there’s a therapist on our team with whom you’re particularly interested, feel free to mention that in your initial contact message.

What can I expect from my first session?

Your first session will be an opportunity to share your story and discuss what led you to seek therapy. It’s perfectly normal to feel a bit nervous or vulnerable. Rest assured, our therapists are here to listen, support you, and create a safe space without judgment. We encourage you to voice any specific concerns or goals you have for therapy.

Do you prescribe?

We have a robust network of providers that we work with and are happy to coordinate referrals when appropriate.

Destigmatizing Therapy and Creating an Inclusive Space

At Tête Therapy, we believe that seeking help is an empowering step. We understand that societal stigma surrounding mental health can create barriers, making it challenging for individuals to take that courageous first step. Our commitment is to foster a warm and inclusive environment where everyone feels safe and encouraged to share their stories and seek support.

We recognize that therapy itself can carry stigma, and it’s essential for us as therapists to continually strive for anti-oppressive practices. Our therapists celebrate the richness of diverse identities and experiences, acknowledging the intersectional components that shape each client’s journey, as highlighted by Kimberlé Crenshaw in her work on intersectionality. With specialized training in culturally sensitive care, we ensure your voice is heard and deeply respected throughout the therapeutic process.

Together, we can challenge the stigma, dismantle the obstacles, and work toward creating a destigmatized and anti-oppressive space where individuals from all backgrounds can access the mental health resources they rightfully deserve.
