Our Services
Art Therapy.
At Tête Therapy, we use art as a powerful therapeutic tool—inviting clients to explore emotions, process trauma, and foster self-understanding through mediums like drawing, painting, collage, and movement.

What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a creative, client-centered form of psychotherapy that uses artistic expression as a means of exploring emotions, resolving inner conflicts, and fostering healing. It’s especially helpful for individuals who may find it difficult to articulate their feelings through words alone. By engaging with different materials—such as paint, clay, collage, or drawing—clients are invited into a nonverbal, symbolic process of self-discovery.
How Art Therapy Works
In art therapy, the focus isn’t on artistic skill or the quality of the final product. Instead, it’s about the process: how one expresses emotions through imagery, how creative choices reflect inner experiences, and how meaning can be drawn from visual metaphors. Working with a trained art therapist, clients are guided to explore what emerges and gently unpack the personal significance behind it.
Visual Language as Emotional Access
For some, talking about trauma, anxiety, or depression can feel overwhelming. Art provides a safer channel to communicate these inner worlds. A color choice, a symbol, or a shape can express complex feelings in ways that words cannot. Art therapy creates space for those emotions to emerge and be witnessed without judgment.
A Safe and Contained Experience
The art therapist helps contain and support the emotional experience, ensuring clients feel safe while exploring difficult material. Artmaking can be a soothing, meditative activity that restores a sense of control and calm.
Benefits of Art Therapy
Art therapy is used to treat a wide range of psychological challenges, including:
- Trauma and PTSD
- Anxiety and panic disorders
- Depression and grief
- Body image and self-esteem issues
- Stress and emotional regulation
It also benefits individuals who are navigating life transitions, facing medical challenges, or looking for deeper self-understanding.
Art Therapy with Tête Therapy
At Tête Therapy, our licensed art therapists integrate creative expression with evidence-based approaches like psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness-based practices, and cognitive behavioral techniques. Each session is tailored to your emotional needs and therapeutic goals—whether you’re looking to process a specific experience, reduce stress, or explore parts of your identity in a new way.
No Artistic Experience Required
Many clients initially worry about their “art skills,” but we assure them: this is not about being an artist. It’s about being open. The most meaningful insights often come from the simplest images or spontaneous marks. What matters is the intention and reflection behind the creation.
A Creative Path to Healing
Art therapy offers a transformative way to engage with your inner world. It allows for healing on a sensory, emotional, and symbolic level—opening doors to insight, resilience, and change. If you’re curious about how creativity can support your mental health, we’re here to guide you through the process.
Whether you’re processing trauma, managing anxiety, or simply seeking a new way to understand yourself, art therapy may be the path forward. Contact us to learn more or schedule a consultation with one of our trained art therapists.
